Barbara Troyan Dalson
Barbara Troyan Dalson, 84, of Brownsville, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 15, 2018.
She was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Loyek Troyan of Richeyville.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. A graduate of Centerville High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse, she worked at Mercy Hospital and was one of the first nurses hired at Centerville Clinic in 1955.
Barbara was a member of Historic Church of St. Peter, where, for many years, she decorated the church for holidays. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America and Society of Catholic Women and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Crosskeys.
She was a member of Nemacolin Country Club for more than 50 years, where she met her husband, John, on the golf course.
An avid gardener, she brought many plants back to life and enjoyed cooking, sewing, watching birds in her backyard, traveling, weekends at Seven Springs and cherished family vacations.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John; two infant children, Mary Ann and Theresa; and brothers Robert, Albert, Michael and John.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Amy McChesney (James) of Gibsonia, Chad Dalson (Suzanne) of Mt. Lebanon and Beth Blundell (Miles) of Canastota, N.Y.; five grandsons, Ryan, Kyle, Colin and Nolan Dalson and Troy McChesney; and brother Andy Troyan of Parma, Ohio.
She also leaves behind her loyal Labrador retriever.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, and are invited to attend a funeral Mass for Barbara at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, in Historic Church of St. Peter, 300 Shaffer Avenue, Brownsville, PA 15417, with the Rev. Timothy J. Kruthaupt as celebrant. Guests are asked to meet at the church Tuesday. Interment will follow in the churchyard. Catholic Daughter’s of America Court 1141 will hold services at 6 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
