Norma Jean Horner

Norma Jean Horner, 92, of Washington, died Saturday, July 28, 2018, in Paramount Senior Living.

She was born July 27, 1926, in Washington, a daughter of the late Harry Pettit and Effie Beabout Pettit.

Norma was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School and worked as head teller at Equibank and other banks. She also worked at Macy’s for 11 years.

She was a member of East Buffalo Presbyterian Church.

Norma was a matron of Order of the Eastern Star Lincoln Chapter 112 and a volunteer at Washington Hospital.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and walking.

On January 13, 1951, she married Harry L. Horner, who died January 21, 1991.

Surviving are a son, Richard L. (Ramay) Horner of Washington; a daughter, Cathy J. (Richard) Nietert of Washington; four grandchildren, Courtney (Gator) Pilgrim of Eatonton, Ga., Brandon (Amanda) Horner of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Brittany (Luke) Godfrey of Atlanta, Ga., and Ross Nietert of Tacoma, Wash.; and two great-grandchildren, Rader Pilgrim and Seraphina Horner.

She also had two great-grandchildren on the way.

Deceased are a brother, David W. Pettit, and a sister, Mary Jane Riggs.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. All services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330, and Citizens Library, 55 South College Street, Washington, PA 15301.
