James G. Murphy, 73, of Rices Landing, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, in Waynesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 1, 1945, in Waynesburg, a son of the late George and Nancy Ellen Barnhart Murphy.
Jim was a graduate of Carmichaels Area High School.
He was a retired coal miner from Emerald Mine in Waynesburg, and had served in the U.S. Army.
Jim was a member of United Mine Workers of America.
On November 29, 1975, he married June A. Harn, who survives.
Also surviving are a stepson-in-law, Paul James; two stepgrandchildren, Cody and Katelyn James; and a sister, Wilda (William) Humbert of Greensboro.
Deceased are a stepdaughter, Amanda James; two sisters, Dawnice Miller and Yvonne Fordyce; brother, Ronald “Bud” Murphy; and his first wife, Linda Murphy.
At the request of the deceased, arrangements are private and entrusted to Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor.
