Evelyn D. Maurin, 92, of Rices Landing, died Thursday, June 7, 2018, in her home.
Mrs. Maurin was born December 23, 1925, in Rices Landing, a daughter of the late Edward and Anna Tuckish Varesko.
On September 28, 1946, Evelyn married Raymond Maurin.
Surviving are two daughters, Maxine Grayson (Larry) of Coraopolis and Elaine Zalar (Tony) of Carmichaels; son Edward Maurin (Carol) of Carmichaels; four grandchildren, Douglas Maurin (Ladana), David Grayson (Kim), Jennifer Grayson and Mark Zalar; two great-grandchildren, Justin Maurin and Kaysee Lukacs; six great-great-grandchildren, Deryk Grayson, Zander Maurin and Elliana, Bentley, Tolbert and Avery Lukacs; two sisters, Ruth Zavora and Dolores Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four sisters, Julia Coles, Anna Wolfe, Lucy Tuckish and Alice Zavora, and 11 brothers, Joseph, Paul, Edward, Louis, Andrew, John, Rudolph, William, Robert and Charles Varesko and Michael Michlik.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Crucible.
She was employed as a secretary for 22 years by Long Insurance Agency of Carmichaels.
She came from a long line of excellent family bakers and cooks and enjoyed preparing meals for family gatherings. Evelyn was a loyal Pittsburgh Pirates fan, through thick and thin seasons.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the time prayers will be said, Tuesday, June 12, in Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, 724-966-5100. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Crucible, with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Evelyn’s sisters, Ruth and Dolores, and niece Patty provided her with wonderful care.
