Jane Thomas Knestrick
Jane Thomas Knestrick, 94, of Washington, formerly of Crucible, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, in Premier Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born January 20, 1924, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Lon and Ida Kalbaugh Thomas.
A graduate of Powers Schoolhouse in Ninevah, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Knestrick worked as a welder and assembled grenades during World War II. She had also worked at G.C. Murphy, Kade Nursing home as an aide and various places as a teacher’s aide.
She loved crocheting and enjoyed going out to eat and eating ice cream.
On June 30, 1946, she married Harold Howard “Apples” Knestrick, who died March 18, 1997.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy S. Knestrick (Michael De Frank) of Crucible; stepdaughter Marie Louise Garcia of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brother William Thomas of West Alexander; three grandchildren, Amy Ullom, Kristen Knestrick and Ryan Richmond; five stepgrandchildren, Mike Knestrick, Howard Knestrick Jr., Martin Nixon, Gary Nixon and John Joseph Knestrick; five great-grandchildren, Craig Ullom, Caitlin Loughry, Hunter Richmond, Andrew Richmond and Payton Knestrick; and a great-great-grandchild, Olivia Ullom.
Deceased are a daughter, Sharon Colleen Richmond; stepdaughter Juanita Nixon; two stepsons, Howard “Bunny” Knestrick and Donnie Knestrick; two brothers, Harold Thomas and Donnie Thomas; and two sisters, Shirley Thomas and Dorothy Kereston.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, with the Rev. Fred McCloskey officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
