Mary Lou Insana

Mary Lou Insana, 83, of Washington, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, in McMurray Hills Manor.

She was born July 14, 1934, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late H. Craig Lightner and Mildred Jamison Lightner.

Mary Lou graduated from Washington High School and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, where she was a Eucharistic minister and reader.

Mary Lou enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with family. She was an avid reader and wonderful cook.

On June 6, 1952, she married Samuel J. Insana Sr., who died February 13, 2013.

Surviving are three sons, Peter (Cathy) Insana of Rhode Island, Samuel (Susan) Insana Jr. of Virginia and James (Ann Marie) Insana of Florida; a daughter, Cheryl (John) Knestrick of Washington; a sister, Frances T. Rugg of Washington; six grandchildren, Kristen Stedman, Erin Marr, Marc Insana, Michelle Myers, Ryan Insana and Craig Insana; nine great-grandchildren, Hanna, Jacob and Anthony Stedman, Riley, Samuel and Abigail Myers, Adeline Marr, Zachary Insana and Lucas Insana; and nieces and nephews Debbie Rugg, David Rugg, Daniel Rugg, Donald Rugg, Debbie Fakaris, Larry Insana, Carmie Frantz, Judy Brna and John White.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, in St. Hilary Church, Washington. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
