Elizabeth was a graduate of Potomac State College and West Virginia University. She taught special education in the Washington public school system prior to the birth of her children. As her kids grew, she worked part-time as a nursery school teacher at the Mon Valley YMCA, sold Mary Kay Cosmetics, and then became a Realtor with VanVoorhis Century 21 Agency.
Elizabeth and her husband, Harold, were partners at Davies Ford Inc. and tireless advocates for small business. She served as a Pennsylvania State Committee Woman and Delegate to the 2004 Republican Presidential Convention. In later years, she became an accomplished miniature artist as a member of several regional miniature clubs and life member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts. In 2005, she served as co-chair of its national convention held in Pittsburgh.
Elizabeth was a over 30 year member of Journey by Grace Church, Belle Vernon, where she sang in the choir, “making joyful noises unto the Lord” as she often called her contribution to praise worship. She would want all those reading this to know they too can receive saving grace through the Lord Jesus (John 3:16), no matter who you are or what you have done in this life.
Her physicians, Dr. DeRienzo, the staff at Benedum Geriatric Center at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, Mononongahela Valley Hospital and Via Quest Hospice, provided excellent care. She was attended faithfully by caregivers Barb, Cindi, Amy, Sharon, Karen, Gloria and Lori.
