Barbara J. Edgar Loar, 69, of Prosperity, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born April 16, 1948, a daughter of the late Ivan and Elsie Morris Edgar.
Mrs. Loar was a 1966 graduate of Waynesburg Central High School. She went on to a community school in Pittsburgh, from where she graduated with a degree in computers.
She worked as a data entry clerk for Superior Valve. She then worked for the U.S. Postal Service, delivering mail in Prosperity and Amity.
Mrs. Loar was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ruff Creek.
On March 2, 1968, she married Gerald Loar, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage, until his death January 19, 2006.
She loved taking care of her dogs, Winston and Booh. She also enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and camping at VacationLand in Sandy Lake. She was an avid yard seller.
Mrs. Loar was a giver and never expected anything in return. She welcomed everyone into her home.
Surviving are a sister, Linda Welsh of Prosperity; a nephew, Daniel (Justine) Welsh of Millsboro; a niece, Stacy (Mike) Edgar of Jefferson; and many more nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a brother, Jacob Edgar.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, with the Rev. Virginia Evergreen officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Glyde.
