Madeline A. Sickles, 90, of Washington, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 8, 2018, in Woodside of Southmont, Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
Born March 31, 1927, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Adams.
She was a woman of faith and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years.
Mrs. Sickles was a retired employee of Presbyterian SeniorCare.
On September 24, 1949, she married Wilbert “Bill” Sickles. Mr. Sickles died May 6, 1964.
Surviving are two daughters, Debi (Dan) Cook of Beaver Falls and Kathy (Eric McWillians) Sickles of Washington; two grandsons, Devin Cook of Richmond, Va., and Drew Cook of Beaver Falls; two sisters, Janet “Peg” Kepka of Washington and Leala Roadman of Avella; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a son, Sam Sickles, who died in 2003, and four sisters, Gercy Buck, Olive Buck, Harriett Patterson and Elaine Porter.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, March 10, in Calvary Baptist Church, 1701 Ridgewood Drive, Washington. The Rev. Fred W. McCloskey will officiate. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Woodside at Southmont, 835 South Main Street, Washington, or Calvary Baptist Church.
