John N. Augustine, 73, of Monongahela, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 8, 2018, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Born October 13, 1944, in Monongahela, he was a son of the late John and Mary Panseri Augustine.
He was a graduate of the former MonValley Catholic High School.
For many years, he owned Augustine’s Bakery in Monongahela and Century III. He later began working as a bakery technician and salesman and retired from Rich Product Co. He then worked part-time until 2017 in the bakery department of the Finleyville Giant Eagle.
An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Mr. Augustine was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela, and also a member of Slovak Club in Monongahela and Mingo Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are his loving wife, Rose Knox Augustine; two daughters, Renee Allen of North Charleroi and Stephanie (Ronnie) Fransko of Victory Hill; two stepsons, Ricky (Erica) Ashcraft of Liberty Borough and Alan (Nicole) Ashcraft of Belle Vernon; stepdaughter Marsha Chambers of Monongahela; 11 grandchildren, Kayla (Zachary), Skyler (Emily), Alex, Paige, Ricky Jr., Madyson, Brayden, Stacey Jr., Jayden, Austyn and Jase; brother, Lenny Augustine of Monongahela; sister, Lorraine (Lou) Ambrose of Maryland; many nieces and nephews; and good friends Steve Gondos, Danny Check and Lee Mizwa.
He will be truly missed.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, with Father William Terza officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
Memorial donations are being accepted at the funeral home on behalf of the family.
