Margaret “Marge” Capitani, 95, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 10, 2018, in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon.
She was born March 4, 1923, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Matthew and Margaret Jackovic Ladich.
Mrs. Capitani lived her entire life in Canonsburg, where she was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and was on parish council for many years.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an occupational therapist at Western Center, Canonsburg, for 15 years.
She was a member and past president of Christian Mothers and Guild and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1211. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for 25 years, “grey lady” at Canonsburg Hospital, member of United Women and volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 20 years. She was a lifetime member of Croatian Fraternal Union of America.
Mrs. Capitani enjoyed directing shows and plays for church and other organizations, playing cards and bingo. She bowled for 30 years and enjoyed making arts and crafts.
On November 24, 1945, she married the love of her life, John B. Capitani Jr., who passed away February 25, 1984.
Left behind to cherish her memory are a devoted daughter, Judith (Louis) Talarico of Canonsburg; a sister, Rosella Brown of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren, Lynn, Melissa and Jennifer Kraushaar and Canon Matthew, Michael, Nicolas and Theresa Talarico; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a beloved daughter, Margaret Kraushaar; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Melecki; and a brother, Matthew Ladich, who died in infancy.
Friends and family are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, licensed funeral director, owner/supervisor, Darla A. Tripoli, licensed funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg (724-745-8120), where departing prayers will be recited at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 16, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, with her grandson, Canon Matthew Talarico, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
