Nancy Jane Richardson Mirich, 87, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Monday, March 12, 2018, in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon, following complications from a heart attack.
She was born March 2, 1931, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Carter Earl and Myra A. Birkenhauer Richardson.
She was a graduate of Wheeling High School. Mrs. Mirich was employed by Kennedy Hardware, where she cared for the store pet alligator, Sears and Peace Goods Fabric store. She left work to fulfill her full time job as a homemaker and lifelong member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she volunteered on many of the church committees.
Mrs. Mirich enjoyed spending time with her family and pets. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and helping God’s creatures, caring for wildlife in distress. She was extremely creative, smart and willing to help anybody who was in need. On June 30, 1962, she married the love of her life, the late Pete Mirich, and together they had a son, Peter, of whom they were very proud.
In addition to her parents and husband, deceased are her siblings, Carter Richardson, Myra Brasch, Dolf Richardson, Mary Schubert, Ida Mae Bonenberger, Ruth Ann “Pete” Shaw and Sally Givens.
Surviving, in addition to her son Peter Mirich and wife Tracy of McMurray, are a granddaughter, Mikayla Mirich of McMurray; sister-in-law Judy Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews whose visits brought much joy to her life.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Kepner Funeral Home, 36th and Jacob streets, Wheeling, 304-232-4060. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 Richmond Avenue, Wheeling, with Pastor Joel Richter officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Wheeling.
