Jess “Tusca” Garcia, 94, passed away January 22, 2018, in his home in Poway, Calif., with his family by his side.

He was born December 20, 1923, a son of Juan and Encarnacion Garcia and grew up and attended school in Langeloth and Union High School in Burgettstown.

Mr. Garcia later enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving honorably in World War II and the Korean War.

His wife, Bertha Goldbach Garcia, whom he married in 1958, passed away in February 2012. They were married for 54 years and raised their two daughters and son in California.

Until retirement, he was employed for many years at North Island Naval Air Station as an aircraft mechanic.

Surviving are daughters Mary Noel Lake of Compton, Calif., and Holly Ann Christie of San Marcos, Calif.; a son, Joseph Garcia, with whom he made his home in Poway; grandchildren Nicholas and Jacob Lake, and Michael, Payton, Gianna, Joshua and Ashlyn Christie; a great-grandchild, Bodi Lake; and nieces and nephew Carole Gonzalez Hemphill, Paula Garcia Huber and Ray Gonzalez.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, and wife are two sisters, Maria Garcia and Mary Gonzalez, and two brothers, Joseph and Manuel Garcia.

A Funeral Mass was held in St. Gabriel Church, followed by interment with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Marine Corp in Holy Cross Cemetery, San Diego, Calif.
