Charles Alan Britvich

Charles Alan “Chuck” Britvich, 63, a lifelong resident of Brownsville, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, in UPMC-McKeesport hospital, after a long battle with Burkitt’s lymphoma.

He was born April 27, 1954, in Waynesburg, to the late Charles C. “Charlie” and Helen M. Meissner Britvich.

Chuck was a member of the Historic Church of St. Peter, Fraternal Order of the Brownsville Eagles and “Camp One Buck” in Cross Fork.

He was an avid gardener and loved hunting, fishing and also enjoyed golfing with his best friend, Ray Chamberlain.

He enjoyed local sports teams, including Brownsville Area and Albert Gallatin Area, and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.

He coached both boys and girls youth basketball leagues in the past and played softball for many years with the Republic and Fayette County leagues.

He loved to go to the beach, especially Ormond Beach, Fla.

Chuck was a local winemaker who previously participated in Brownsville Area Revitalization Corporation’s “Taste of Italy” competition.

He was employed at Uniontown Hospital as a pharmacy technician and loved his work and all of his co-workers. Chuck previously worked at U.S. Steel, Clairton Works, for over 10 years, the former St. Mary’s Church and Brownsville Bus Lines.

He graduated from Brownsville Area High School, Class of 1972, attended both California University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University, and graduated with a degree in pharmacy technology from Western School of Health and Business Careers.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joetta Lynn Repasy Britvich; son Bradley Ryan Britvich; brother Fred Britvich and wife Sue; nieces Jessica Britvich and Natalie Blanock; sister-in-law Karen Repasy; aunts Betty Wence and Jennie Lee Britvich; uncle Donald Meissner; and numerous cousins and friends.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Historic Church of St. Peter, with the Rev. William Kiel as celebrant. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.

Dr. Dai and Dr. Hou of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and the nurses and aides at UPMC-Shadyside and UPMC-McKeesport provided Chuck with exceptional care.
