Karen Sue Righetti Wright, 69, of Waynesburg, entered into eternal peace Saturday, March 31, 2018, in her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Karen was born August 15, 1948, a daughter of the late Charles and Garnet Taylor Righetti.

She graduated from Waynesburg Central High School in 1966 and Waynesburg College in 1970, with a degree in elementary education. She obtained a master’s in education from West Virginia University.

She was employed by Central Greene School District as a first grade teacher, where she taught at South Ward School, East Franklin School and Waynesburg Central Elementary School for a total of 36 ½ years.

She enjoyed RV traveling, visiting family and friends and attending events with her granddaughters.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesburg, where December 29, 1973, she married Gary W. Wright, who survives. In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by a daughter, Chera Strelick; a son-in-law, Brian Strelick; granddaughters Lauren and Kayla; an aunt; several cousins and numerous friends.

Karen leaves behind a legacy of love not only by way of her family and friends but also by virtue of her many students. She will undoubtedly be remembered for her warm smile, her kind heart and her thoughtful nature. Karen never forgot a birthday or an anniversary, and she followed the academic careers of her former students, sending them cards upon graduation from high school. She also sent handwritten thank you notes whenever possible. Additionally, Karen will certainly be remembered for the way she lived her life. She sincerely celebrated the victories of those she held dear, and she genuinely felt their losses. She exuded intelligence, modesty and gentleness. She placed her trust in her God. She loved, and she was loved.

Her family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heartfelt forms from so many. The staff at Donnell House and Concordia Hospice provided her with great care.

As an expression of sympathy and as a living tribute to Karen, instead of sending a fresh arrangement, please plant a flower, perhaps a pansy, her favorite, in your garden and enjoy watching it bloom and the butterflies it may bring.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where public services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, with Dr. Donald Wilson and her cousin, the Rev. Mark Scotton officiating.

Per Karen’s wishes, her burial will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, will be private.
