Walter Leroy “Roy” Eckels of Scenery Hill died Thursday, May 3, 2018, in Washington Hospital.

He was born December 14, 1952, in Greene County, a son of the late Walter B. and Mildred Wilson Eckels.

He was a 1972 graduate of Bentworth High School and was self-employed as a dump truck driver.

He was married to Donna Eckels.

Roy was a former president of Ellsworth Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending car shows and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Surviving are his wife, Donna; son Walter (Kim) Eckels Jr. of Scenery Hill; daughter Bobbi Jo (Bill) Faust of Scenery Hill; two stepchildren, Michael (Carol) Herceg and Erik (Denise) Herceg, both of Scenery Hill; two sisters, Ella Dale Deditch and Grace Thomas of Florida; and nine grandchildren, Chelsea Eckels, Willow Eckels, Destiny Faust, Georgia Faust, Sarah Faust, William Faust, Michael Herceg, Paul Herceg and Kayla Wright.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, with Pastor Kevin Young officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery.
