Albina Marie Strnisha
Albina Marie “Bea” Strnisha, 91, of Washington, died Saturday, May 5, 2018.
She was born in Washington, March 16, 1927, to the late Martin Malcolm and Elizabeth Mastnock Evans.
Beanie attended Wolfdale Elementary School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1945 with the “war class.”
After graduation, she worked at a war plant on East Maiden Street, Washington, where she inserted pins into hand grenades until the war ended. She then worked at G.C. Murphy before getting a job at Tygart Valley Glass Co., checking ware.
On September 5, 1948, she married Martin Francis “Moe” Strnisha. They shared 62 years of marriage before his passing February 6, 2011.
Bea and Moe were members of Slovene National Benefit Society Lodge 617, Washington Senior Citizens Center bowling and dartball teams and Friendship Community Church. She was a past member of North Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she enjoyed working the food tent at the annual firemen’s fair. She also liked solving the daily Observer-Reporter crossword puzzles.
Dr. Mark Mamros and his staff provided excellent care to both Moe and Bea.
Surviving are five children, Jan, John and Marty (Helen) of Washington, Jim (Su) of Maryland and Nancy (Mike) Rexroad of Virginia; grandchildren Jae (Dee), Amanda and Jonya Strnisha, Johnathan and Jennifer Rexroad and Sheena (Mike) Marshall; three great-grandchildren; and brother Jim Evans and sister Vi Tustin, both of Washington.
Son Martin Francis Strnisha Jr. and daughter Janice Marie Strnisha died in infancy.
Deceased, in addition to her husband Moe and children Martin Jr. and Janice, are brothers Karl and Harry Evans.
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
