Jean Shehl Mocniak
Jean Shehl Mocniak, 86, of Headlee Heights, Garards Fort, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in her home.
She was born June 12, 1931, in Bobtown, a daughter of the late Willey and Fannie Blaker Shehl.
Jean was a 1949 graduate of Point Marion High School and a 1976 graduate of Greene County Vo-Tech, where she completed the practical nursing program. She worked at WVU Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., and Curry Memorial Nursing Home in Waynesburg.
On July 8, 1950, she married Frank Mocniak Jr., with whom she shared her love and her heart for 66 years, until his passing November 11, 2016.
She was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, which she faithfully attended with her husband and family.
Jean enjoyed music, reading, sewing, quilting and crocheting beautiful baby hats she donated to the WVU Medicine NICU. She also volunteered and entertained at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, along with her husband who played the Hammond organ for their many dear friends for several years.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Marty Mocniak and wife Lois of Greensboro and Randy Mocniak and wife Robin of Morgantown; three daughters, Francine Mocniak of Morgantown, Jacki Wade and husband Doug of Blacksville, W.Va., and Judi Pekar and husband Thomas of Headlee Heights, Garards Fort; 12 grandchildren, Annie Parker (Tab), Doug Mocniak (Leanne), Megan Schau, Matthew Mocniak, Lucas Mocniak, Chelsi Greco (Nick), Ben Wade, Josh Wade (Rachel), Ashley Morgan (Adam), Tony Liberatore, Jenna Liberatore and Joel Pekar; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends and neighbors.
She was expecting two great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Oretta Shehl Koast.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels. All are invited to meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, in St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Waynesburg, for a Mass of the Resurrection, with the Rev. J. Francis Frazer, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Garards Fort Cemetery.
