Herman L. Pennline

Herman L. Pennline, 90, of Fallowfield Township, went to be with his Lord Saturday, May 26, 2018, in The Residence at Hilltop, Carroll Township.

Mr. Pennline was born July 14, 1927, in Charleroi, a son of the late Harry and Pauline Lombardi Pennline.

He graduated from Charleroi High School and University of Niagara in New York.

Mr. Pennline served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He was a member and a lector at Mary, Mother of the Church, member of American Legion Post 22, 10th Street A.C. and the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 167, all of Charleroi, and member of Italian-American Cultural and Heritage Society in Canonsburg.

Mr. Pennline retired in 1991, after 36 years as a secondary teacher at Charleroi School District. He was a former football, basketball and track coach at Charleroi.

He was a former committeeman with the Democratic Party, secretary-treasurer for Fallowfield Township Board of Supervisors and president of Washington County Association of Township Officials. He also served with the board at Mon Valley Community Credit Union.

Mr. Pennline is survived by his wife, Margaret Kinder Pennline; children Pamela Merryman and husband Thomas of Langhorne, Richard P. Pennline of Lexington Park, Md., and Gerri Restivo and husband Daniel of Fallowfield Township; three grandchildren, Dustin Merryman, Alyssa Diaz and James Diaz; a sister, Cecelia Sciortino of Charleroi; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Janet Pennline; grandson Scotty Merryman; two sisters, Margaret McCullough and Rose Pennline; and three brothers, Anthony Pennline, Henry Pennline and Paul Pennline.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 226 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, in Mary Mother of the Church, 7th and Washington Avenue, Charleroi, with the Rev. Gerald Mikonis as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.

The wonderful people at The Residence at Hilltop provided Mr. Pennline with care and compassion during his stay.
