Patsy Ruth Umholtz-Clelland, formerly of West Middlesex, died Friday morning, May 26, in Evergreen Personal Care Center in Waynesburg. She was 89 years old.
Born in Duquense, March 17, 1929, to the late Harry Wayne and Marguerite Eleanor Hallam Umholtz, she went on to obtain her bachelor of arts from Waynesburg College (University) in 1950. She married Gaylord Morgan Clelland, June 18, 1951. He preceded her in death June 25, 2006.
Mrs. Clelland retired as an elementary teacher in West Middlesex Area School District. She was a daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was the matriarch of the family who was so very loved and will be forever missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Gay Lynn Clelland-Hardy and husband Don of Waynesburg; son Keith H. Clelland and wife Stephanie of Chautauqua, N.Y.; sister Marguerite Kritz (Douglas) of West Middlesex; and three grandchildren, Donald J. Hardy, Morgan E. Clelland and Kelsey A. Clelland. She also leaves her beloved nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Wayne Hardy, and a brother, Wayne Umholtz.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in The Smith Funeral Home, 3126 Main Street, West Middlesex. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, with Pastor Tom Wilson of the Lebanon United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
