Rita D. Dietrich
Rita D. Dietrich, 85, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018, in her home.
She was born June 23, 1932, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Jacob and Frances Sobierajski Wozniak.
Mrs. Dietrich was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. She was also a member of Christian Mothers.
She was a 1950 graduate of Canonsburg High School.
She worked as a secretary for RCA/Tactec from 1950 to 1985. She then became secretary and treasurer for Chartiers Township, where she served until 1994.
In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing, especially polka. More recently, she spent her free time reading, playing cards and socializing in her local senior centers. She was a member of Chartiers and Canonsburg senior centers.
On February 20, 1954, in Canonsburg, she married her husband of 48 years, Alex M. Dietrich, who died in 2002.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Thomas A. (Lisa) Dietrich of Houston; daughter, Deborah Dietrich (Brad) Walton of Cypress, Texas; two grandchildren, Hillary and Collin Dietrich; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are two sisters, Florence Golonka and Helen Jean Gniewkowski; and three brothers, Albert, Edward and Joseph Wozniak.
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Those wishing to attend the Mass are asked to meet at the church. All other services are private.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
