Dorothy Mae Lowman Crawford
Dorothy Mae Lowman Crawford, 97, formerly of Fallowfield Township, died Saturday, November 3, 2018, in Wheeling, W.Va.
She was born July 16, 1921, in Derry, a daughter of the late George and Alfreda Woods Lowman.
Dorothy graduated with a degree in elementary education from California State Teacher’s College in 1943. She subsequently earned a master of education degree from Penn State University. She taught in the Collier Township School District and Noss Elementary School in California. She later supervised student teachers for California University of Pennsylvania.
Dorothy was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Coal Center.
She is survived by a son, Brian L. Crawford PhD (Vicki) of Wheeling, W.Va.; daughter, Carole Crawford (John) of Kirkland, Wash.; two sisters, Marion and Georgiana Lowman; three grandchildren, Grant Crawford, Jason Bennett (Julie) and Heidi Higgins (Michael); and four great-grandchildren, Grace, Aubrey, Mackenzie and Connor.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Louis H. Crawford.
Services and internment were held in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 420 California Drive, Coal Center, PA 15423.
