Bobby R. Delaney, 87, of Mt. Morris, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2018, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born Saturday, July 4, 1931, in Mt.Morris, a son of the late Charles L. Dulaney and Addie Marie Johnson Dulaney. Mr. Delaney spent his entire life in Greene County.

Mr. Delaney was a member of Mt. Morris United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and board member. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and spent 17 months in Korea. He was a member of James T. Maxon American Legion Post 992 of Mt. Morris for 68 years. He was also a member of Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461 and Mt. Morris Lions Club.

Mr. Delaney was a member of Greene County and National Rural Mail Carriers Associations. He had served on Cedar Grove Cemetery Board for several years. He was awarded the Dunkard Township Citizen of the Year award.

Mr. Delaney started with Mt. Morris Volunteer Fire Department in 1949, was a member for 69 years and was still an active member until his death. He served as chief of Mt. Morris Fire Department for 52 years, from 1958 to 2010. He was also a member of Greene County Volunteer Fireman Association.

He started working for Mt. Morris Motor Co. in 1949, and also worked for Fox Auto in Waynesburg until 1961 as a mechanic. He also worked for his brother in the evenings as a mechanic. He then began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Mt. Morris for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Fox Delaney, whom he married December 19, 1956.

Also surviving are son Douglas Delaney of Morgantown; three sisters, Dora Mae Cook of Pittsburgh, Annabelle D. Herrington of Mt. Morris and Lillian “Vickie” Dulaney of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sisters, Sharon Anne Dulaney and Kathleen Francis, and brother Jimmy Edgar Dulaney.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in United Methodist Church, 256 Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, PA 15349, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 30, with the Rev. Jacob Judy officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 324 Mt. Morris Road, P.O. Box 478, Mt. Morris, PA 15349, are entrusted with the arrangements. Graveside military rites will be accorded by James T. Maxon American Legion Post 992 of Mt. Morris.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Mt. Morris United Methodist Church, 256 Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, PA 15349, or Mt. Morris Volunteer Fire Department.
