Michael Angelo Sorice
Michael Angelo Sorice, 89, of Washington, died Saturday, September 29, 2018, in McMurray Hills Manor, following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 2, 1929, in Washington, a son of the late Antonio and Florence Tesauro Sorice.
He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mr. Sorice was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School.
He was a mould maker for Brockway Glass, retiring from Plant No. 7 in Washington in 1984. In his semi-retirement, he worked at Black Box from 1985 to 1995.
Mr. Sorice served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
A Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he loved spending time with family and enjoyed playing golf, working in the yard and watching college football.
On May 8, 1953, he married Doris Ann Pettit, who survives. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this year.
Also surviving are a son, Richard Michael (Iris) Sorice of Cincinnati, Ohio; three daughters, Ruth Ann (Harry) Fenton of Lebanon, Janet Marie Brown of Fitzwilliam, N.H., and Judy Lynne Sorice Harris of Washington; a sister, Marie Carmel Durso of Carnegie; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Dylan, Hallie, Caley, Keara, Shawn, Ian and Emily; five great-grandchildren, Frances, Hazel, Arthur, Miles and Elliot; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are five brothers, Samuel, John, Dominic, Joseph and Anthony Sorice, and two sisters, Angeline Sorice and Theresa Martin.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 4, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
