Leslie S. Kennedy Batten
Leslie S. Kennedy Batten, 70, of Brownsville, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend.
She was born October 31, 1947, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late William H. and Zana Leonard Kennedy.
Leslie was a 1965 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School, attended Edinboro University and graduated from Durbins Secretarial School in Connellsville.
She was a help desk specialist for more than 20 years at Intermediate Unit 1 in Coal Center. Fellow co-workers referred to her as the “Queen” of IU1.
Leslie was a very active member of United Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Coal Center.
She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and loved all kinds of music.
Surviving are her daughter, Katelyn Garrett (Christopher) of Greensburg; two brothers, William C. Kennedy of Ashland, Mass., and Mark D. Kennedy (Carrie) of Washington; two nephews, Peter Kennedy (Susan) of Glyndon, Md., and Andrew Kennedy (Julia) of Holliston, Mass.; a niece, Kendal Broderick (James) of Verona; and many other wonderful family members and friends.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a sister-in-law, Karen Kennedy.
Many friends and other family members provided great love and support, as well as the team members of OSPTA Hospice.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 18, in United Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 499 Malden Drive, Coal Center, with Pastor Amory Merriman officiating. Private interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to United Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 499 Malden Drive, Coal Center, PA 15423, or Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
