Mary L. Garris, 94, of New Eagle, died Monday, September 3, 2018, in her daughter’s home.

She was born June 30, 1924, in New Stanton, a daughter of John Lester and Mary Black Hazel.

Mary was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in New Eagle.

She retired after 30 years as a business manager for Ringgold School District. After retirement, she was employed part time at Levin Furniture Store in the South Hills, and also volunteered for 28 years with the Monongahela Valley Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth K. Dermont and husband Edward Joseph and Judith L. Brice and husband John, all of New Eagle; three grandchildren, Bridgett Nobili and husband Jeffrey, and Josh Dermont and Candice Curry; great granddaughter Alessandra Nobili; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Earl Garris; five sisters, Janet Dunlap, Elinar Anthony, Helen Delaney, Jane Kester and Jessie Powell; and four brothers, Glenn, Kenneth, Morton and John Hazel.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Those planning on attending the funeral service are asked to meet at the Riverview Baptist Church, 405 Main Street in New Eagle, at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6. The Rev. Bruce Moses will be officiating officiating.
