Lena D. Ballein, 91, of New Eagle, died Thursday, September 13, 2018, in Manor Care, McMurray.
She was born August 9, 1927, in Monongahela, a daughter of Guy and Carmella Mariani Vignoli.
Lena retired after 20 years as a seamstress for the former Donora Sportswear and was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela. In her younger years, she and her husband, Paul, enjoyed dancing. Lena was always happy to be around her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Donald Ballein of Monongahela; two grandchildren, Raymond P. Calfo Jr. and wife Catherine and Alyssa Ballein; great-granddaughter Paula Calfo; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, deceased are her husband, Paul Eugene Ballein, who died July 31, 2012; daughter Paula Kusmierek; daughter-in-law Kathie Ballein; four brothers, Philip, Patsy, Justine and Sam Vignoli; and four sisters, Mary Merolillo, Louise Frankowic, Rose Fidanzato and Angeline Rose.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Funeral prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Damien of Molokai Church, with the Rev. William Terza, pastor, as celebrant.
Committal services and interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
