Robert N. McCarthy

Robert N. McCarthy, 90, of Houston, died Friday, September 21, 2018.

He was born December 1, 1927, in Muse, a son of the late Charles and Mildred Roncovitz McCarthy.

Mr. McCarthy was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a self-employed architect. He was passionate about his work. The R.N. McCarthy Architect company served the local area, designing several prominent buildings in Washington County. He was a member of American Institute of Architects.

On July 19, 1948, he married Flora Irene DeJohn, with whom he shared more than 68 years of marriage, with until her death July 30, 2016.

Surviving are his son, Kevin McCarthy and wife Darla of Pittsburgh; his daughter, Christine Kaezyk of Houston; seven grandchildren, Christina (Matthew) Manges, Charles F. (Kelley) Kaezyk III, Courtney Kaezyk, Allison (Derek) Ford, Capt. Emily (Amanda) Bent, Molly (Timothy) Bolton and James Hankins; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Conner, Mason, Brooks and Kerrigan; goddaughter Phyllis Grace; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000, where departing prayer services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 26. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township, with full military rites accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, Canonsburg.
