Elizabeth Klimek Putila
Elizabeth “Betty” Klimek Putila, 90, of Carmichaels, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in her home.
Mrs. Putila was born March 30, 1928, in Thompson No. 2, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Kois Klimek.
On July 29, 1950, Betty married Francis S. Putila Sr., who died in 2012.
Betty is survived by three children, Frank Putila Jr. (Karen) of Charleston, S.C., Maribeth Fugozzotto (Sam) of Uniontown and Joseph Putila Sr. (Patty) of Carmichaels; six grandchildren, Matthew Putila (Jodi), Ann Manning (William), Dr. Joe Putila Jr., Derek Putila (Siara), Peter Putila and Michael Putila; five great-grandchildren, Liam Manning and Leah, Carissa, Niko and Nicholas Putila; a sister, Stella Sertich of Carmichaels; two brothers, Bill Klimek of Geneva, Ohio, and John Klimek of Carmichaels; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three brothers, Gerald, Joseph and Walter Klimek, and a sister, Patricia.
Following are a few thoughts from her children: Betty was a wonderful caretaker of her family, friends and neighbors. She loved cooking and baking, and holupkis, perogies and nut rolls were her specialty. She enjoyed gardening and raising her own flowers. Betty especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty will be dearly missed.
She was a fantastic mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels, Altar-Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the time of a prayer service, Monday, October 1, in Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, 724-966-5100. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, with the Rev. Francis Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Crucible.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels.
Helen Gaborka and Wendy of Fayette Home Care and Hospice, the staff at Mt. Macrina and Dr. Singh provided Mrs. Putila with great care.
