Naida L. Fundis Handyside
Naida Laverne Handyside passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2019, in Condcordia Hospice of Washington Donnell House, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on January 2, 1954, and raised in North Huntington Township, Westmoreland County, to Jack Fundis and Dorothy Smith Fundis, who preceded her in death.
Naida was employed as a Medical Assistant for Dr. Joel Segal and later at Pat’s Hallmark in McMurray.
Naida is survived by her loving husband, Thomas F. Handyside Jr. of Houston and her son Thomas F. Handyside III (Christina) of Burgettstown. She was a proud grandmother of four grandchildren, Tommy, Brianna, Alaina and Victoria. Also surviving are her brother, William (Angel) Fundis of Kingsport, Tenn.; three sisters, Lois Fundis of Weirton, W.Va., Virginia Sauer of Pittsburgh and Mary Schroeder of Overland Park, Kan.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
She will be especially missed by her special dog, Buddy.
She is preceded in death by her sister and brother in-law, Janice and Bill Powers; and her brother-in-law, Donald E. Sauer.
Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor and Darla A. Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 6, in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 West Pike Street. Everyone attending the funeral service is asked to meet at the church. Interment will be private.
