William Simpson
William “Butch” Simpson, 71, of Carmichaels, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018, in Western Pennsylvania Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born April 5, 1947, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Paul S. and Clara Sword Simpson.
Mr. Simpson attended West Greene High School and entered the U.S. Navy in 1967. He proudly served his country for four years of active duty and two years of inactive duty. Mr. Simpson retired in 2009 as a route supervisor after 40 years with Consolidated Coca Cola in Morgantown, W.Va.
He was a member of West Union Presbyterian Church and Fordyce United Methodist Church.
Mr. Simpson was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed hunting, working his family farm and the company of his Labrador retriever, Ci Ci.
On July 24, 1971, he married Linda Jenkins, who survives.
Also surviving are a grandson, Brett William Simpson of Carmichaels; a brother, Paul Simpson (Geraldine) of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Lucille Holloway of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Twylia Cain of Cleveland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Iva Jean Allison.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 10, in Fordyce United Methodist Church, 201 Fordyce School Road (just off Garards Fort Road), Waynesburg. The Greene County Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy will accord military honors following the memorial service.
