Thomas Carl Hickman, 78, of Washington, died Wednesday, August 21, 2019, in the VA Hospital H.J. Heinz Campus, Aspenwall.
He was born January 14, 1941, in McCook, Nebr., a son of the late Virgil Carl and Leona Ruth Sturdevant Hickman.
Mr. Hickman was a 1953 graduate of Carl Junction High School, in Carl Junction, Mo., and continued his studies at Laterneau Technical Institute.
He worked as a maintenance man for The Church of the Covenant, where he was a member.
Mr. Hickman was a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he served in many capacities over his 27 years with the program.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Surviving is a sister, MaryAnna McNeel of Washington.
Deceased is a nephew, Lawrence Carl McNeel, who died during his senior year at the United States Air Force Academy.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 31, in The Church of the Covenant, 267 E Beau Street, Washington. All other services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director.
