Patsy Ricciuti

Patsy Ricciuti, 90, of Vestaburg, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019, in his home.

He was born April 8, 1928, in Warwood, W.Va., a son of the late Dominic and Albina Trasatti Ricciuti.

Patsy was a 1946 graduate of Centerville High School.

From 1946 to 1948, he served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Patsy was a 58 year member of the Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391 in Fredericktown.

For over 60 years, he was an active member of the United Mine Workers of America on both the local and international level. He was the representative of UMW Local 762. At his retirement, he was the benefits counselor as well as the president of Local 762. During his career, he actively pursued all available benefits of UMW retirees and was particularly active in pursuing Black Lung and pension benefits. Although retired, he had continued serving as an advisor of the UMW. Mr. Ricciuti was the epitome of a true union man.

In 1997, he was honored by the Washington-Greene Central Labor Council AFL-CIO with their Man of the Year Award.

On January 1, 2019, he resigned from the Centerville Borough Council, having served 21 years as an elected official, 12 years of which were as counsel president.

He served several terms as a representative of Centerville Borough on the Board of Directors of the Tri-County Joint Municipal Authority. He also served as president of that board.

Fishing and hunting were the two hobbies he allowed himself. The rest of his time was spent on community and union service.

Surviving are his second wife, Edith Bennett Connor Ricciuti of Vestaburg; four children, Kathy Gustovich (Tom) of Deemston Borough, Ted Ricciuti (Barb) of Vestaburg, P. Jean Ricciuti of Vestaburg and Tammy Impiccini (Jody) of Low Hill; five stepchildren, Maurren Bennett, Bill Connor (Lisa), Bob Connor (Les), Patti Davis (Tim) and Judy Connor; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased is his first wife, Patricia A. Ricciuti, who died June 21, 2004; three brothers; and two sisters.

Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 2, in Greenlee’s Fredericktown Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contribution be made to Concordia Hospice of Washington, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
