Melvin Edwin Wood, 71, of Waynesburg, died at 9:12 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2019, in Washington Hospital.

He was born Wednesday, December 17, 1947, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Francis E. Wood and Viola Virginia Teegarden Wood.

Mr. Wood was a member of WWJD Church in West Waynesburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and crocheting. Mr. Wood especially enjoyed helping his children. He was a former member of Waynesburg Lions Club.

At one time, he worked for Rich Mobile Homes in Khedive. He was a self-employed electrician, retiring in 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Renner Wood, whom he married April 6, 1974.

Also surviving are a daughter, Megan Lantz, and her husband, Thomas Jeffrey Jr. of Waynesburg; two sons, Michael Wood of Waynesburg and Heath Wood and his wife, Kayla, of Jefferson; six grandchildren, Jordan Wood, Brendan Wood, Brelynn Wood, Landon Wood, Owen Wood and Eliana Wood; a sister, Elaine “Sissy” Randall of Greenville; a brother, Gaylord Wood and his wife, Judy, of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a grandson, Dylan Wood.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, in Milliken and Throckmorton FH, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, Owner/Director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, with Pastor James Carpenter officiating.
