Bessie Mae Shuckhart

Bessie Mae Shuckhart, 88, of Nemacolin, died Friday, February 8, 2019, in Cloverdale Nursing Home, Masontown.

Mae was born December 20, 1930, at Paisley, Greene County, the daughter of the late William Walter and Della McNatt Skiles.

On September 23, 1950, Mae married Charles Allen Shuckhart, who died in 1987.

Mrs. Shuckhart is survived by six children, Deborah Shuckhart, Victor Shuckhart, Gary E. Shuckhart (Charlene), Paulette Myers (Howard), Lester Franklin Shuckhart and Tracey Lynn Shuckhart; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Shuckhart; a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Skiles; 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mae was an Election Day worker at Nemacolin for many years.

She was a strong supporter with her husband of the UMWA and went on many trips to Washington, D.C., and elsewhere in support of coal miners.

Her hobbies were embroidery and doing word search puzzles.

Her kindness and gentle nature were an example to all.

In addition to her parents and husband, three children are deceased: Charles Shuckhart Jr., Ada Shuckhart and Roger Dale Shuckhart.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, in Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, PA, 15320, 724-966-5100. The funeral service will be follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Tinstman officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
