Ronald E. Schmidt

Ronald E. Schmidt, 82, of Hickory, formerly of Uniontown, passed away Wednesday evening, January 2, 2019, in South Hills Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Canonsburg.

He was born March 7, 1936, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Herbert and Mildred “Bille” Sanders Schmidt.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was honorably discharged in 1963.

Mr Schmidt retired from Parks United Van Lines, where he was a truck driver and enjoyed driving cross country.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn S. Jones of Hickory; five grandchildren, Jason Schmidt, Christina Jones, Erica Nicoll, Matthew Blumer and Meghan Hamorsky and husband Tony; three great-grandchildren, Vincent and Dominic Nicoll and Isabella Hamorsky; sister Sally Adams of Florida; brother Regis Byerly of Export; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Foneda Schmidt; daughter Kathy Blumer; and son-in-law William Jones.

To honor Mr. Schmidt’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Inurnment services with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army will be held in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
