Andrew T. Sedlak Sr., 85, of Slovan, passed away Friday, Janury 4, 2019, in Weirton Medical Center.

He was a graduate of Union High School, 1951; Findlay Ohio College; and held a Master’s Equivalency from the University of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Sedlak taught in Burgettstown High School for nearly 40 years before retiring in 1997. He also wrestled on the collegiate level for Findlay and would later coach at Burgettstown for 20 years. He would be inducted into the Findlay College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. During his retirement, he took great joy in feeding the birds and daily trips to Vallina’s Market to safely procure his precious newspaper. He was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where he attended mass every Saturday evening and loved watching sports on tv. Wrestling was his top favorite.

He is preceded in death by father Emro and mother Mary; brother Emre; sisters Mary Krych, Helen and Pauline Lauro; and son-in-law Jesse Stutler.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Mae (Yanosky); brother Frank (Doris); sons Andrew (Lori) Jr and Christopher; daughter MaryAnn Stutler; and grandchildren Heather Stutler, Brittany (Steven) Strasko and Kristen (Dylan) Motta; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Wednesday, January 9. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
