Janis M. Selway
Janis M. “Jan” Selway, 77, of Washington, died Thursday, January 10, 2019, in Washington Hospital.
She was born November 7, 1941, in New Castle, a daughter of the late James A. and Helen L. Harmon Shaffer.
A graduate of Baldwin High School, she was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Selway was retired from General Carbide, where she worked as the bookkeeper. Most recently, she worked at the reception desk at South Hills Chrysler, Jeep and Kia.
Jan’s greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the family, and was very proud of all of them.
A people person, Jan enjoyed going out and socializing, and she also enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports.
On August 14, 1961, she married David E. Selway, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Darlene (Lou) D’Oro of Moscow; nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Ali) Cataldo, Kelsey (Brett) Ross, Alyssa D’Oro, Michael Falcone, Evan D’Oro, Nathan Cataldo, Eric D’Oro, Christopher D’Oro and Mia D’Oro; four great-grandchildren, Cameron and Easton Cataldo, Sawyer Cataldo, and Bennett Ross; a son-in-law, Neil Cataldo; and a brother-in-law, Edward Selway.
Deceased is a daughter, Dian S. Cataldo.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 14, in Faith United Presbyterian Church, 900 East Beau St., Washington, with the Rev. Jason Hefner officiating. All who plan to attend the funeral services are asked to meet at the church Monday morning.
Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
