Freda K. Tennant, 94, of Waynesburg, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019, in Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
She was born September 4, 1924 in Prosperity, a daughter of the late George and Bessie Courtwright Thomas.
On August 8, 1942 she married Glenn R. Tennant Sr., who passed away on October 12, 2005.
Freda had worked for the Jesse L. Ross Drug Store in Waynesburg. She had also managed rental properties and served as a caregiver for the elderly.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Waynesburg.
Freda enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Surviving are two sons, Glenn R. “Sonny” Tennant Jr. and his wife Shirley of Carmichaels, and Richard D. Tennant of Marietta; a daughter, Rita Balaban of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren, Michael Tennant, Michelle Rolfe, Melissa Peterson, Marla Perseco, Glenn Edward “G.E.” Balaban, Thomas Andrew “T.A.” Balaban, Brian Richard Tennant and Carrie Ann Tennant; three stepgrandchildren, Tammy Coles, Kim Burrows and Sheila Plavic; 22 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emma Jean Dalrymple of Waynesburg.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles and Edward Roupe, Florence Jenkins, Ruth Strawn, Paul Thomas Sr., Wayne, Glenn, Donald and Mary Thomas, Nora Lohr, Erma Phillips and Wilda Leichliter.
At Mrs. Tennant’s request, private services are being handled by Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 W. High St., Waynesburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Humane Society of Greene County, 183, Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370,www.greenepet.org.
