Charles H. Bissett Jr.
Charles H. Bissett Jr., 85, of Lorain, Ohio, died Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Mercy New Life Hospice, surrounded by his family.
He was born September 18, 1933 in Washington and had been a Lorain resident for the past 59 years after moving from Pennsylvania.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
He was a member of the UAW Local 425 and retired from Ford Motor Co., Lorain in 1992 after 33 years.
Charles was also a member of AMVETS Post 22, Vermilion, and the American Legion 30 and VFW 451, both in Lorain. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his loving wife, Mary Lou. Throughout his life he also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, hunting, and watching baseball. He was also an avid bowler, bowling on the United Polish Club, Ford, and several senior leagues.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Crouse Bissett of Lorain; sons, Steven Bissett of Amherst and Bruce (Denise) Bissett of Lorain; daughters, Dusty (Thomas) Birrittieri of Lewisville, N.C., Wendy (Laurence Solak) Bissett of Oberlin, Tracy (Rob Kaderbek) Paluch of Sheffield Lake, Janet (Randy) Noseworthy of Lorain, and Donna Bissett of Lorain; 26 grandchildren, Nicole, Thomas, Brandy, Natasha, Lauren, Steven Jr., Tabitha, Lisa, Eric, Justin, Travis, Cory, Kristen, Kayla, Ashley, Bryan, Elizabeth, Alexander, Shalea, Duane,Taylor, Tyler, Michael, Alyssa, Tori, Devon; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; brothers, John and Kenneth Bissett, both of Pa.; and his sisters, Iverna Christoffers of Md. and Ellen Zimmerman of Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Sr. and Margret Ann Moody Bissett; infant son, Timothy Duane Bissett; grandson, Kyle Paluch; son-in-law, Daniel Paluch; brothers, James, Gerald, and Franklin Bissett; sister, Karen Basinger; and two infant sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Rd., Avon, OH 44011. The Vermilion Veterans Council will present Military Honors and Chaplin Jim Peters will officiate.
