Betty J. Speck, 81, of Washington, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in her home.

She was born May, 3, 1937, in St. George, W.Va., a daughter of the late Gerald and Nina Nine Maine.

Mrs. Speck was a 1955 graduate of Trinity High School.

She spent most of her time as a full-time mother and wife. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and was an avid bowler.

On October 24, 1958, she married James E. Speck, who survives, in the West Washington United Methodist Church, where she was a member for most of her life.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Ryan J. (Trudy) Speck of Monessen; two grandchildren, Mikayla and Brayden Speck; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother and a sister.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 25, in the Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, 420 Locust Ave, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 26, with Pastor John Custer officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer’s charity of one’s choice.
