Dorothy Mae Townsend, 85, of Eighty Four, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 24, 2019, at ManorCare Health Services, Peters Township.

She was born December 11, 1933, in Washington, the daughter of Albert and Rachel Agnes Morton Lutes.

Mrs. Townsend was a graduate of Washington High School.

She had a great sense of humor all the way to the end and always had an independent spirit. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards and making crafts.

Mrs. Townsend was a member of the Grange for more than 60 years, Peters Township Women’s Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and a gardening club.

Surviving are two sons, James Albert Townsend of Eighty Four and William Boyd (Beth) Townsend of Lawrence; two grandchildren, Justin James Townsend and Ryan William Caldwell; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Scarlet; and a few nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Boyd Listie Townsend, and all of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg, where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, January 28. Interment will be held in private at Forest Lawn Gardens at a later date.
