Edward S. Schwartz

Edward S. Schwartz, 75, of McMurray, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 after battling Ataxia for more than a decade.

A native of Marietta, Ohio, and growing up in Parkersburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Wava Irene Schwartz Miller and Frank Finley Schwartz.

He is survived by the love of his life of more than 53 years, Linda L. Schwartz Postlewait; daughter, Lynnette Y. Johnson (Tal); and son, Daniel W. Schwartz (Stacey); granddaughters, Alexandria T. and Samantha T. Johnson; two brothers, Frank L. Schwartz (Lynne) and L. Dean Schwartz (Amy); his nephews, Scott, Anthony, Christopher, Kyle Schwartz; niece, KatieSchwart; and brother-in-law, Phil Postlewait.

Ed graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology and received his master’s of business degree from University of Pittsburgh. He worked for Dominion Resource (Consolidated Natural Gas) for more than 35 years as mechanical engineer and vice president of operations.

He was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was active in his community of Peters Township sitting on multiple boards.

After retiring in 2002, Ed spent hours in his woodworking shop creating masterpieces for family, friends and his church. He was an avid story teller and jokester right up to his death as he wanted to improve peoples’ lives that he came in contact with.

During the last 10 years while he fought his illness of Ataxia with determination and grace, he and Linda were dedicated to raising awareness of this little known and devastating condition. They were leaders in the West Penn Ataxia support group and traveled several times to attend The National Ataxia Conference meetings, lending their time, money and energy to fighting this debilitating condition.

Funeral arrangements by Beinhauers. Friends welcome from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 530 Center Church Road, McMurray, Pa.
