Carol N. Sovchen
Carol N. Sovchen of Mt. Lebanon passed away Monday, January 28, 2019.
She was the beloved wife of Richard; dear mother of Alexia (Lawrence) Dabat, Anthony (Kali) Sovchen and Richard (Danielle) Sovchen Jr.; loving grandmother of Lucy Dabat and Reagan and Taylor Sovchen; and sister of Nancy (Maurice) Nernberg and Michael B. (Nancy) Nicolella. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Mary Nicolella.
Carol was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Washington, Carnegie Tech. and received her master’s from the University of Pittsburgh. She retired from Mayview State Hospital, where she was an art therapist and teacher. She was an artist and owned her own painting and design studio called After Images. She was very proud of mentoring many young artists to obtain entry into art universities.
Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Friday , February 1, in William Slater II Funeral Service, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township 15220. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the University of Pittsburgh Scleroderma Center.
