Harold F. VanDruff
Harold F. VanDruff, 86, of Kirby, Whiteley Township, was called home Friday, March 8, 2019, in his home, surrounded by family.
He was a resident of Kirby for 62 years, living on his family’s Century farm and raising Holstein dairy cattle and Angus beef cattle. He was a son of the late Ralph F. VanDruff and Edith E. Knotts VanDruff.
He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal from 1953 to 1955. After his service to his country, he pursued his dream in life of operating a Holstein dairy farm. Only second to his family was his love of farming. Following retirement, he drove school bus for Bowers School Bus Services.
He loved hunting and traveled as far as Alaska, Montana, Wyoming and Maine. He was a great supporter of the NRA. He had a love of restoring antique tractors, especially with his grandson.
He was very active in his community and especially educating and advocating for agriculture in America. He often hosted farm visits for Central Greene FFA. He served on board of directors for Milk Incorporated. He was also a committee man of farm Service Agency. In addition, he was part of the American Breeder Association, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and on the board of directors for Agway Services.
On June 16, 1956, he married the love of his life, Belinda “Gertrude” VanDruff, who survives.
Also surviving are his greatest accomplishments, son Brion VanDruff (Linda) of Kirby and daughter Shari (John) Curry of Spraggs, and two grandchildren, Jordan Curry (Megan) of Waynesburg and Sara VanDruff of Kirby.
Decreased are his sister, Eleanor VanDruff, and brother, William C. VanDruff.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service, held to celebrate his life, at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, in Claughton Chapel United Methodist Church, 1552 Big Shannon Run Road, Waynesburg, with the Rev. Jacob Judy and Pastor Carolyn Morris officiating. Immediately following the service will be a luncheon held in the basement of the church for friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Greene County 4-H Livestock or Youth Scholarship Fund, 26 West High Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370. Alternatively, a donation may be made to Claughton Chapel United Methodist Church, 55 Big Shannon Run Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
Hospice Healthcare Amedisys and Pastor Dave provided kindness and compassion in his final days.
