Charles Edgar Giles, 91, of Millsboro, died peacefully Sunday, March 17, 2019, with his loving family at his side.
He was born August 4, 1927, a son of George and Florence Giles.
He attended East Bethlehem schools and was employed for many years as a welder.
Ed, as he was known to many, served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy.
On June 27, 1983, he married his present wife Delores, also known as “Doe.”
Mr. Giles, who lived most of his life by the river, enjoyed boating and teaching his many grandchildren, nephews and nieces how to fish. Ed enjoyed woodworking, his visits to the casino and time spent with his friends at Vestaburg Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are his wife, Delores; four sons, David Giles (Edithlyn), Allen Giles (Jody), Pau Giles and Gary Giles (Diane); daughter Beth Brady; stepchildren Patty (Taz) Vayansky, Ricky Miller and Jeanie (Luke) Bell; siblings Claradee Stickovich, Albert Giles and Alverda Starkey; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Predeceased, in addition to his parents, are his first wife, Mary Lou Giles, who died in 1976; sister Vera Henry; grandson Jerimiah; and infant great-granddaughter Alexis.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Frank Burkus Funeral Home, 26 Mill Street, Millsboro, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, with Pastor Kevin Carpenter officiating.
