Joseph J. Golinski
Joseph J. “Jay” Golinski, 58, of Canonsburg, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019, in the Greenery Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
He was born May 29, 1960, in Pittsburgh, to Joseph F. and Patricia Cunningham Golinski, who preceded him in death.
On May 8, 1993, he married his beloved wife and best friend, Marigene Peel, who survives.
He was Catholic by faith and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Carnegie.
He was a veteran, having served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during Desert Storm. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 in Canonsburg and was an active member of the Honor Guard.
Jay was employed as an electrician by PA Transfomer in Canonsburg for many years, until his illness.
He had many interests and hobbies, including attending Washington Wild Things game with his wife, doing yard work and watching any of the Pittsburgh sports teams on television. His other memberships included the Slovenska National Benefit Society (SNPJ).
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Cindy Brown (Dan) of Carnegie; brother Darryl Golinski of Carnegie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jay was also preceded in death by his brother Daniel Golinski Sr., and his in-laws, Thurman and Mabel Peel.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, Darla A. Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Catholic blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, where military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
