Earl Hatfield Jr.
Earl Hatfield Jr., 71, of Washington, died Sunday, November 17, 2019, following a brief illness.
He was born December 11, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late Earl Hatfield Sr. and the late Dorothy Berg Hatfield-Arbuckle.
Earl was a 1965 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and had been employed by Rubber Rolls Inc. for 27 years, before his retirement in 2014. Prior to his employment with Rubber Rolls Inc., he was employed for many years by Star Dynamics and Smith’s Auto Supply. At the time of his death, Earl was employed as a part-time courier for Ben’s Courier.
During his employment with Rubber Rolls Inc., Earl was the treasurer/secretary of Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union Local 337. He was an avid car enthusiast and was the former president of Mopar Muscle Club International. He enjoyed attending car shows and drag races throughout his life and was the proud owner of many Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth muscle cars over the years.
Earl was a true family man and especially enjoyed large family gatherings. He also enjoyed spending time with his circle of friends. Earl will be remembered for his sense of humor and his compassion.
On August 9, 1975, he married Jamie Lynn Amos, his wife of 44 years, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Christopher Lee (Mary Jo) Hatfield of Washington, Heather Lynn Hatfield of Washington and Joshua James Hatfield of Washington; a grandchild, Phillip Nicholas Hatfield of Washington; three sisters, Catherine Cox of Washington, Judy (William) Otrosina of Watkinsville, Ga., and Joyce (Donald) Hatfield-Wise of Washington; four brothers, Melvin Hatfield of Washington, Jerry (Mary Ann) Hatfield of Cecil, Gary (Sherry) Hatfield of Washington and James Hatfield of Washington; two sisters-in-law, Sandra (John) Vanatta of Washington and Debra (Craig) Dotson of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his in-laws, James and Pearl Belcastro Amos, and brother-in-law Lawrence Cox.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 22, with the Rev. Dr. Darwin Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Olivia Scott Foundation, 225 Kelley Road, Washington, PA 15301.
