Frank A. “Tiza” Kern
Frank A. “Tiza” Kern, 93, of Strabane, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 16, 2019, in Strabane Woods.
He was born May 11, 1926, in Strabane, a son of the late Adolph and Justine Podboy Kern.
Mr. Kern lived his entire life in Strabane and was a graduate of Trinity High School. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and, prior to his retirement, had been employed at the former Pennsylvania Transformer and Cooper Industries. Tiza was a member of the Slovene National Benefit Society Lodge 138 and the KSKJ St. Jerome Lodge 153, both of Strabane, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
He was the last of his immediate family. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his brothers, Joseph and Adolph M. Kern Jr. Left behind to cherish his memory are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will deeply miss him.
Friends and family are welcome from 9 to 10 a.m., the time of a Catholic Blessing Service, Saturday October 19, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P.
