Sylvia L. Ohler Gossett

Sylvia L. Ohler Gossett, 96, of Waynesburg, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, September 9, 2019, in Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation in Waynesburg, with her niece, Linda Menhart King, at her side. Rolling Meadows became the place she lovingly referred to as home.

She was born April 6, 1923, in Trotter, a daughter of the late John J. and Mary Swank Ohler.

Sylvia was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Cleveland. She enjoyed traveling, vacationing with “the girls,” the casino and spending time with her family and friends.

On March 4, 1939, she married Samuel R. Gossett, who died October 28, 1974.

Surviving are a granddaughter, Cheri S. Biggs (Jonathan) of Boston, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Owen; and several nieces and nephews.

Also deceased are her two sons, Samuel R. Gossett Jr. and James A. Gossett, and siblings Alice Menhart, Aretta Archual, Barbara Kowlewski, Marie Tresnowsky, Bertram Ohler, John Ohler and James Ohler.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, Saturday, September 14, in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, with the Rev. Keith Larson officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
